Summer Flower Show

Tuesday, September 7th

10:00am - 6:00pm

Statewide nonprofit fundraiser lasts through Wednesday

UPDATED November 17, 2009, 1:01pm

Local nonprofits are asking Minnesotans to take part in the “Give to the Max” event that is taking place online until 8 a.m. Nov. 18.

For every dollar donated online through the GiveMN.org site, a portion of $500,000 will be matched.

The Bush Foundation, Minneapolis Foundation and Saint Paul Foundation are sponsoring the event. They ensure that transaction costs are covered so that 100 percent of the donation goes straight to nonprofits.

The exact amount matched per dollar donated will be calculated once the event concludes Wednesday morning. The three nonprofits with the largest number of individuals making donations during Give to the Max Day will receive grants. Results will be posted on Thursday, Nov. 19 on the web site.

Give to the Max Day was created to boost charitable giving to nonprofits across Minnesota, including local neighborhood groups and a variety of other Minneapolis organizations. By using GiveMN.org, an online resource that allows Minnesotans to research and support nonprofits, donors can manage their charitable giving by recording contributions and storing receipts online.

To donate, visit GiveMN.org.
